Proper Orientation for your Pump

From various sites on the internet, I’ve read that the optimum positioning of inlet & outlet for your chugger (or march) pump is “inlet on bottom”, and “outlet on top.”  Supposedly, this facilitates flushing air out of the system.  I can state unequivocally that this is true.

I had originally oriented my pump with the inlet on top and the outlet on bottom, and it required some fussing with it to get the liquid to properly flow.  However, once oriented properly, I was able to have liquid flow readily, by gravity, mostly without touching any part of the system; in the cases I did need to touch anything, it was only a flip of the switch to run the pump for a second or two.
