Review of Furthermore Thicket

Furthermore Thicket

Furthermore Thicket

This double India Pale Ale (IPA) has a strong, almost chewy, malty backbone, with plenty of malt in the aroma and a noticeable–but pleasant, not offensive–note of alcohol.  The malt is well balanced with the hop bitterness, or as much as it can be in a double IPA; like many I’ve tried, the hop character is not “doubled” in a “double IPA.”

Though I didn’t have them side-by-side, this double IPA reminds me of a recipe I brewed, myself (last summer): an attempt at a Lagunitas Maximus clone which included a melange of willamette, cascade, centennial, and liberty.
